Nokia N72 Review at About based on a technical analysis

The Good:

  1. Technology: The Nokia n72 works with global GSM frequencies, which is convenient if you travel overseas frequently. (Note that additional roaming charges from your home carrier generally apply) (score: 7/7)
  2. Stand-by Time: 260 hours of stand-by time. It is way above average! (score: 20/20)
  3. Phone Book: It can store a variable number of phone book entries. This is generally the case of phones with a dynamic memory and, it usually allows for a lot of phone numbers to be stored. (score: 20/20)
  4. Speakerphone: It has a speakerphone, which can prove useful in a car or in other situations. (score: 10/10)
  5. Camera: It has an above average camera: 2.0 megapixel (score: 10/10)

The Average:

  1. Talk Time: A talk time of 215 minutes. It is about average. (score: 12/20)

The Not-So-Good:

  1. Weight: 4.37 ounces of weight is somewhat above average. You could find that phone a bit bulky. (score: 4/20)

Overall Score: 87

  Nokia N72 Review at Slashphone

"The first question asked was from a N70 user when he first learnt I have a set of N72: what's the difference? Besides the expansion in color options (both black and pink are available now compared to a standard silver for N70 previously), it just seems to be a tad slimmer when viewed sideways.Equipped with the gloss black N72 model for review, the details on the sliding cover for the camera does catch one's eyes, as it did for the Nokia L'armour collection but it is more distinctive in the pearl pink version which strikes a chord with some ladies who finds it endearing that it comes with matching wrist strap and headset."

  Nokia N72 Review at GsmArena

"Nokia N72 fascinates with its truly genuine design and construction conception. This first impression, however, is not always positive; many people find the phone rather repulsive and not at all attractive. May be this is the phone that has earned the most controversial user opinions. Even our team was divided in two when it comes to the Nokia N72 design.

The black bar with silver linings shines with glamour but can be hardly considered a classy phone when looked at first sight. Basically, it shines "cheaply". One very interesting moment in its design is the camera lens' cover on its back as it reminds the cover of Sony Ericsson K800. This one is much bigger, of course, and its construction is much worse than the one in the 3.2 megapixel phone.

Nokia N72 definitely isn't a small phone. It is big and heavy, but quite ok for a smartphone. As a matter of fact, it is one of the smalles in the N-series. It feels solid and stable. The small buttons of the keypad add a delicate touch in the design that surely enriches the style factor of N72. A bad thing about the looks of the phone is that it attracts fingerprints as hell. There is hardly any part of it that can remain clear of those."

Main Features:

  • 2 megapixel camera
  • Video recording in CIF (352x288 pixel) resolution at 15fps
  • FM radio
  • GPRS & EDGE Class 10
  • RS-DV-MMC card slot
  • 128 MB memory card included

Main disadvantages:

  • Big size & weight
  • No dedicated camera macro mode
  • Poor display
  • No 3G support
  • Controversial design
  • Loose camera lens cover

  Nokia N72 Review at mobile-phones-uk.org.uk

"Functionally, the N72 is almost the same as the N70, but without 3G support. It's a nicer design in many ways, with an improved keypad (but still small). The user interface is faster too, so if you won't miss 3G, the N72 could be a better option."

Rating: 4/5

  Nokia N72 Review at infosyncworld

"Trading stainless steel for glossy black plastic and 3G for EDGE, the N72 is a close relative to the popular N70 and the black sheep of Nokia's N Series family with its modest specifications; think of it as a nice faux leather couch, if you will.  "
