Last year Huawei announced one of the world’s thinnest smartphones in the Ascend P1 smartphone, and as expected, this year at Mobile World Congress they’ve just detailed its successor. The Ascend P2 is here complete with an HD display, 13 megapixel, and more yet still comes in super sleek. We’ve seen a fewleaks already, but check out the hands-on pictures and all the details below.
Many rumors suggested this would be nearly a flagship smartphone with a 1080p full HD display, but instead Huawei opted for a 4.7-inch 1280 x 720p HD display – but it still looks great. With Sony, HTC, and soon Samsung rocking 1080p displays we expected Huawei to step it up, but we have a feeling more smartphones are coming from them soon.
Not all of the leaks were right, and instead we have a 1.5 GHz quad-core Hisilicon K3V2 processor under the hood, not 1.8 GHz. Then you’ll be enjoying 2 GB of RAM, 16/32GB of storage, micro-SD support, and that impressive 13 megapixel camera. Huawei also tossed in a massive 3,000 mAh battery yet kept the design extremely thin and lightweight.
You’ll enjoy Android 4.1 on board, but it’s been heavily skinned by the manufacturer. So far build quality feels on par with most Huawei devices. A nice blend between HTC’s premium heavy feel and Samsung’s lightweight plastics. They sit right in the middle here with build quality and construction. In select regions the Ascend P2 will support full 4G LTE and 150Mbps download speeds and more. We’ll update as soon as we know more regarding pricing and full availability.
