The ASUS FonePad 7, which seems to be the official name of the FonePad HD 7 sighted in other leaks, is a slight upgrade to the ASUS Fonepad that was announced last February at the Mobile World Congress. As the names indicate, both are tablets with full phone functionality sporting a 7.0-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280×800. We know that the FonePad 7′s processor will be bumped from a 1.2 GHz Intel Atom Z2420 to a 1.6 GHz Atom Z2560 and that it will have a 5 megapixel rear camera instead of the original’s 3 megapixel camera.
Now we get to see some of the other new features that ASUS has prepared for the tablet. The FonePad 7 features a new integrated contact interface that lets users easily send messages or make calls from a single screen. The case design has also changed a bit to make room for dual SonicMaster front speakers at the top and bottom edges. It’s microSD slot also has support 64 GB of additional storage. ASUS has yanked out the video from their YouTube channel but it has luckily been mirrored and can be watched below.
The ASUS FonePad 7 will be available in Sapphire Black and Diamond White color options. There will also be covers, in black, white, and orange, that have a dual-stance feature for easier reading and typing. We expect that ASUS will be making the official announcement tomorrow once IFA gets underway.
