Wi-Fi phones (they are based on VoIP telephony) are making their presence felt much more than earlier. The uVP-2100 in Korea is the latest ot be added to this list. The handset has a large 240 x 320 pixel display which can be enjoyed to the fullest by making use of the compatible H.263 / MPEG4 technologies. As with Wi-Fi phones, features that we tend to take for granted cannot be so easily included in these. Take the example of SMS ; you can only send messages if there is a server that supports this service (will depend on the hotspot).
The handset is based on Linux. The video phone operates on 7.5 frames per second @ CIF (352 x 588) max. The UVP-2100 also has a built-in Mp3 and MIDI player - same can be used for setting the ring tones.
