|To take advantage of the Christmas market, Gigabyte has launched the Barbie phone. The Barbie handset is certainly not the delicate phone that you would be expecting from its namesake. While the garish pink color makes it obvious that its meant for ladies only, the designers have given the ladies a good reason to buy the phone rather than being just a showpiece. The charming slider design hides the numeric keypad. At the back, you get to see the large speaker which will help in listening to music as well as holding handsfree conversations. The built-in camera is good enough to take pictures in megapixel resolution. You can even strap the phone (surely matching straps will be available) and sling it along on your arm for added effect.|
The Barbie phone has a large 176 x 220 pixel screen size which can show 262,000 colors (it is a TFT display). The handset itself weighs around 106 grams and has dimensions of 96.7 x 54 x 25.6 mm. The phone will support GPRS , WAP, Java. Since it will feature a built-in music player (Mp3 , MID, wAv) it is also expected to have the mini SD card slot for memory expansion.
All in all, the Barbie handset seems like an extremely obvious buy for your impressionable niece or daughter; the specifications make it well worth it. Pity that Gigabyte has not yet expanded into the western markets.
