| Casio makes handsets only in Japan so far, these are "WIN" terminals and about three of them are going to go on sale in the next week. |
The Casio W41T is a widely anticipated HDD phone. The handset which comes equipped with a 4GB capacity HDD which can store a lot of songs. The storage space is esential since the handset confrm to the "Au listening service" of KDDI. It is something similar to Apple's iTunes but this one is for cell phones. The 262,000 colors of the primary display with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels is put to good use by watching movies on supported media files. The handset comes with an integrated 2 megapixel camera lens. Not surprisingly, the phone does not have an expandable memory slot. The 160 gram handset has a small monochrome external display.
The W41CA is also a WIN handset. It too supports the music service from KDDI. However in terms of memory it is much less then the W41T. The W41CA has a 70 megabytes internal memory which can be added to by another 1 GB by increasing it with the mini SD card. The attractively designed clamshell is slim and brightly colored. Another advantage of this phone is that it has large keys, so it should be a good bet for people with reading problems as well as those who have trouble using the pixie keypads of small handsets. This baby has several important document viewers allowing the user to view attachments on the handset. Color options are Orange (by far the best) , black and white.
The A5518SA probably seems the most basic of the three but it certainly does not lack behind when it comes to functions. The GPS enabled A5518SA comes with features such as "EZ NAbi walk" for finding the way around the city. It has a built-in FM radio tuner and 1.3 megapixel camera doubles up as an Optical Character recognition system. The OCR system can be used in conjunction with the on board dictionary to immediately find meanings of words. The 105 gram phone has a large keypad as well as a big display - 240 x 320 pixels with 262,000 colors. The secondary display is a smaller monochrome one - merely 96 x 64 pixels in size. Also this one is from Sanyo while the earlier two phones are from Casio.
