The S5200 is uniquely designed. The usual square shape of a slider has been changed to a narrower more classy looking design. The black color as always adds to the looks of the handset. The narrow shape with its smooth curvy design along with petite dimensions make it extremely easy to carry on the self (93 x 46 x 21.6 mm).
The S5200 seems the perfect slider for females. The phone has an integrated MP3 player which can be directly accessed by the music key at the side of the phone. The keypad swings out from under in a smooth motion with the keys being perfectly arranged and sized for quick dialling. Unlike the fancier designs of keypads which only require a steep learning curve and frustrate you while dialling in the dark, we very much prefer the traditional approach. Other then that, while closed the phone has a four way directional joystick which doubles as short cut keys. A central "OK" key executes the highlighted function.
Just above the sliding mechanism, the S5200 has its camera lens (1.3 megapixels). Pretty surprising placement, since camera lens are sensitive and require protection, hiding it when the slider is closed (by keeping it beneath the sliding mechanism) is a very good idea. However LG has apparently thought better of it for some reason and left the lens exposed to the elements. One benefit of this is certainly that you can take snaps without opening the slider, however its really simply to just slide open whenever a picture is needed to be taken.
Other features include bluetooth, MMS, 3GP video format compatibility, MP3 ringtones etc.
