The Toshiba Satellite M100 Series Notebook PC is now available, and it’s got pretty good specs, especially considering its lower price.
Advantages that you can look forward to include lesser power consumption, thanks to Intel Centrino mobile technology, and the new Intel 945 Express chipset and PRO/Wireless for 802.11 a/b/g network compatibility.
To keep the weight (and costs) down, the M100 uses a 14.1" WXGA display. Memory starts at 256MB and can be upped to 2GB, which is nice, while hard drive capacities start from 40GB up to 120GB, running at 5400 rpm.
If you ask me, don't opt for the integrated Intel 950 graphics accelerator; splurge on getting an ATI Radeon X1300 (64MB) or X1400 (128MB). By default, the laptop comes with Windows XP Home.
For a Toshiba, the M100 is surprisingly affordable, with prices starting from US $1,034. Order yours from Toshiba Direct.
