Very Dissapointed in this mobile from apple....lack of features, I was Expecting more, a better camera to be exact, larger amount of memory and 3G

the camera is too basic the overall functions are way too good to be true! safari browser, touchsreen, large screen, itune... etc

Does anyone else realize the STRONG resemblance to the Motorola A1200/MING? I personally own that phone, and I like it. I am quite fond of this device, HOWEVER, as my experience in the A1200 is shown, I would like to point out that the hard buttons are generally easier to use than touchscreen, especially while on the move. I think it looks sexy, however I am not too confident in the operation.

you people dumping on the phone should at least read up on it before you go making decisions. http://www.apple.com/iphone/ saying stuff like touchscreens suck, this is not your normal touchscreen smartphone. it's made out of zirconium to reduce smudges and scratches. it uses technology that WE HAVE NEVER SEEN! this is not some touchscreen licensed from any old company like nokia or samsung or motorola goes to when they want a touchscreen phone, this was created FROM SCRATCH by Apple over the past two years with over 200 patents. you have never used anything like this so please don't judge until you can get your hands on it.

ok, for the ones who dont know the exact price of it it will be costing 499$(4gb)and 599$(8gb)this cellfone its everything youve evrr wanted it has everything in a small compact wide screen cellphone (16 million colors)as a comp.OH and by the way it will be on stores on june in us.end of year in europe and 2008 in asia y want it now...

this thing is going to get so trashed in my pocket, which means i'll have to buy some fancy apple case for it for 50+ bucks, and look like a giant douche bag pulling it out of my pocket, THEN pulling it out of the fancy pouch. ambient lighting? movement sensor? touch screen? i hope the tech support lines are wide open because all of you know how REALIABLE your ipods are (/end sarcasm). my best pal is an apple genius worker at the soho store in NY and he says this thing is going to be a hardware, software and technical error fest. great start but this thing looks like a nightmare...

Nice try from Apple but? -Camera lacks anything (another cheap 2mp sensor and that's all) -3.5 inch screen with only 150.000 of total pixels? (decent one must be at least 230.000 per this size of screan) -Video player is a nice thing to see but there is absolutely no indication of video speed? (30 fr per second or crappy 15 fr/ps?) THOSE NEGATIVES WILL BE A DEADLY FORCE FOR THIS SO-CALLED PHONE! Hopefully mp3 player will work ok!

It's OK, but I'd like to see a review of it. The fact that it has MacOS X on it is pretty good, but I'm worried about its stability and compatibility most of all. I'm also worried about the screen. Not quite sure what to do with a touch screen and how to protect it... I think people expected something different...

$499 full retail for the 4gb $599 full retail for the 8gb that's before carrier subsidy which hasn't been announced.

the model you're looking at is basically for the americas, a carrier named Cingular will offer it exclusively when it ships by june of this year. it will see changes and upgrades before apple introduces it to europe this christmas and asia in spring 2008. apple will also likely have a separate widescreen video iPod without phone functions for the christmas season. in the americas 3G is not very prevalent. of the two gsm carriers only one has it and they've just started building it out so it's no real loss for them. T-Mobile in america has no 3G what so ever. now the cdma american carriers have lots of 3G coverage but alas, this is not CDMA

this is apple, not microsoft. there will be no software problems to work out. they have spent over 2 years working on this so that it doesn't have major problems. the biggest selling point, contrary to everybody who speaks of screen and WiFi, will not be a single feature. it will not even be that it's an iPod. apple wants this to be the easiest phone you have ever used. that is the revolution, the sheer brilliance and ease that you can use the device. better than a nokia, better than an SE. that is apple's entry into phone business. without that, if it sucks, if there are complaints of crashes and overall suckiness when using the touchscreen then apple has failed. you may be able to crticize lack of features like UMTS but you will not have anything negative to say of the software and interface, i guarantee you this.

It seems that Apple was not able to be innovative this time. It is obvious that Apple sees that mp3 player mobile phones are going to kill iPod. Therefore they needed to go into the mobile phone business to stay in the music player business. I would compare this phone to N91, because it has similar 4/8 GB internal memory. Screen: N91 smaller Battery: Similar 3G: Apple no, N91 yes Touchsreen: Apple yes, N91 no Buttons: Apple no, N91 yes Functions: Similar So where is the innovation? Ok, the touchscreen functions might be innovative, if they work well. However, I am sceptical about the screen and how can you operate it by only using one hand (e.g. writing SMS while driving car). My point is, N91 is 2 years old!!! Apple's flagship mobile is compare able to 2 years old technology. And 2 years is a lifetime in mobile phones. I just hope that the touchscreen innovations work. I would be nice to have a phone with bigger screens. Other makers could copy it and make a phone with more up to date features (better camera, GPS, 3G, mobile TV etc.).

I think it is a great phone and will have a great impact on the market. I would definitely buy one if it had a better camera (2MP is somewhat... bad, 3.2 would have been much better). Anyway...way is everyone complaining about the space? I think I have less the 3 GB of music that I regularly listen to (although on my PC I have much more). Even 4 GB is enough, unless you intend to store DVDs on your Iphone.

C'Mon guys - there is not alot to get excited about. Yes it's Apple's first foray into the mobile phone market but the price, coupled with the size of the device - will you really want to use this to replace your iPod and mobile phone? I think not! Take samsung's i300/i310. 3 - 4GB internal space. Smart features, great size. C'mon Apple, you can do better than this!

how many of you guys/girls who have negative comments actually get what this phone is capable of doing....? This a MAC with Tiger OSX operating system (for those who do not know what this is, go to your local Apple dealer, and try out their computers, that is what it's all about, just the same as installing Windows XP operating system into a mobile- does that exist? anyways who cares it would probably crash every second minute), and its a phone and its an iPod and a movie player and and and. This phone is capable of everything to be exact. And it will not crash more than any other mobile thats for sure, trust me! Ok it does not have 3G or GPS, but not to worry Steve Jobs already announced that its under development... My only worry is the BATTERY that is im sad to say not Apples strongest sales argument around! I simply cant wait to get it..... just a damn shame I have to wait until end 2007:-(

Apple is the WORLD CHAMPION of the marketing and the branding awareness...YES it's not exactly a state-of-the-art communicating device but Steve Jobs is making everything gold when it comes to the market. I'm convinced people, especially in the States, will rush into the stores in June. Definitely, Nokia, S-E and Samsung have a REAL new challenger!!!

This is an extraordinary piece of hardware apple has produced. It is a perfect combination of design and features(even though it does lack 3G). It has the eyecandy specific in all Apple products plus the functionality of the best mobile phones on the market and beyond. The display on the phone features multi-touch technology - no other phone on the market, excuse me, electronic mobile device on the market has that, neither will it in the next 2 years. I hear some of you telling that "the resolution isn't high enough, there are better displays out there". WHY in god's name would you need a display better than this, for heaven's sake, it's 160 ppi(pixels per inch), what possible functionality could you find for a display better then the one installed in the phone. I'm telling you, this phone will be a market breaker, it will shake the mobile phone industry. And by god, call me a fool, but these will sell like hot cakes. Nokia'd better launch all the models they can throw at Apple, because they only have about 6 months left until this phone hits the market. Amazing piece of hardware equipped with maybe the best Os in the world. Just amazing. For the people who do not believe it is so, there are thousand other choices out there, nobody is asking you to buy this phone(even though it's a great piece of hardware), there are a thousand people just waiting to take your place.

1 STAR from me... I hate the phone, it looks rubbish. The features sound rubbish and it isn't a normal everyday phone, is it? I think people should get a better phone like Nokia N73 at @ reasonable price where the iphone is way expensive.

people around the world, this is the future of cell phones.. apple make the most reliable pieces of hardware/software.. they dont do third party parts, they create from scratch, SE are going to be there only rivals. nokia, samsung, motorola, lg all the same, and have been stealing menu layouts, screen resolutions from SE for years now.. everything apple make is pure quality. tech is moving faster than ever, this is like when colour tv was introduced, its a cell revolution!

Its just the first time apples released a phone, but im really disappointed on its feature it has no 3G capability and has no ifrared and i think it does not support all audio formats and still its touchscreen its memory is very big but nokia has already that kind of memory. But still it has a safari internet browser so its still cool as of now! Peace out everyone!

3G is mobile broadband internet much faster than the normal internet connection for phones! HSDPA in other term!

This phone is pretty lazy during web browsing its sucks! This phone is intended to be a browse the web but it has a very slow internet speed! this phone sucks! No 3G! yuks! It has the same speed at browsing like my Nokia 5300 pretty bad i had this phone.

ive only had a little muck about with this phone in the shops & i love it!!! just a few little problems though...4 starters u keep accidentaly pressing things u dont wanna press and it MEGA confusing 2 operate!!!! but overall- great phone.very stylish.awesome.
