I personally love all the features of this phone.. 2 Megapixel Cam, Text-to-speech should be interesting, plus many others like tortch light, FM radio, and sports fitness programme.. If only it had a secondary video conference camera.. Bugga! But I'm still gonna choose this phone when it comes out in Melbourne Australia.. I'll probably get it FREE on a $29 or $39 monthly CAP plan.. suits my lifestyle, should be a good choice for me.

My boyfriend has had this phone for a few months, the silver covering on the middle navigation button has worn off, today the phone was dropped lightly and the screen has broken inside although has not cracked on the outside and the phone does not have a mark on it. This phone is supposed to resist bumps which is part of the reason it was purchased, and also because it is dust resistant. He has also owned the Nokia 5100 which is meant to be a similar phone, this phone was thrown hard at a wall and was completely unmarked and continued working even though it dented the wall!

In general a good phone, the apps are easy to use and its a great phone once you get used to the Symbian operating system. However there are some downsides. After only 2 months of fairly normal use the rubber keypad (which was always a bit tricky to use with big fingers) lifts or bubbles off the keys exposing the internal workings. It goes back into place when pressed down, but soon lifts again. It doesn't affect performance but shows poor build design.I suggest you should buy a silicon skin for it to avoid this problem. I wouldn't suggest that this is not the most rugged of supposedly rugged phones. But don't think it will survive long in cambodian dust and mud! I have tested some of the apps on the phone, the radio and MP3 player is excellent, motion sensor Groove Lab game is tops! So in general a great phone, shame about the keypad issue

Don't waste your money! It's sooo expensive and hard to use. I am on my 2nd keypad in 3 months. Nokia say there is nothing wrong with this phone! Just Google 'Nokia 5500 sport keypad' and you will see forums all over the world complaining about the keypad.

I m having this phone since Dec2006. The rubber key pad was ripped off even when used with utmost care. But luckily i got the keypad replaced free of cost form Nokia authorised dealer. But one thing i must say is that it is one of the most ugliest phone i have ever seen(by design). I must say that this phone is priced on the upper side. There are no Nokia 5500 models available in the market as of date. This shows that Nokia has withdrawn this product from the market. Its a real shame on Nokias part. No one is willing to purchase this model in the second hand market. Its now becoming difficult to get rid of this piece of shit. Nokia should give a proper replacement of the product to all those customers who have been loyal to them for so many years. Or else the loyalty is already at a stake. Thatz why i love competition. Sony Erricson is doing an awesome job. Kudos
