The Lords of Dharmaraja, a group of Indian hackers, posted information from a hacked Indian Militaty Intelligence server on the internet.

The memo suggests that, "in exchange for the Indian market presence" mobile device manufacturers, including RIM, Nokia, and Apple (collectively defined in the document as "RINOA") have agreed to provide backdoor access on their devices. The Indian government then "utilized backdoors provided by RINOA" to intercept internal emails of the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, a U.S. government body with a mandate to monitor, investigate and report to Congress on 'the national security implications of the bilateral trade and economic relationship' between the U.S. and China. - Slashdot

Google and Motorola Mobility today announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Google will acquire Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion. The transaction was unanimously approved by the boards of directors of both companies.

The acquisition of Motorola Mobility, a dedicated Android partner, will enable Google to supercharge the Android ecosystem and will enhance competition in mobile computing. Motorola Mobility will remain a licensee of Android and Android will remain open. Google will run Motorola Mobility as a separate business.

Nokia, the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturer, announced plans to form a partnership with Microsoft and adopt Windows Phone 7 as its principal smartphone platform.

Nokia also stated that Symbian will become a franchise platform, while MeeGo will become an open-source project.

There goes our dream (for now) of having an Android-powered Nokia.

LG has announced it will unveil another 'World's First' smartphone, after the dual-core powered smarthpone LG Optimus 2X , the LG Optimus 3D at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2011 which starts on February 14th in Barcelona.

Details are scarce on this one, but LG say it is the world’s first 3D smartphone that features a dual-lens camera for 3D recording a glasses-free LCD panel for 3D viewing, HDMI port and DLNA.

Other rumored specs include a 4'+ screen, a dual-core CPU and dual-channel RAM and Android OS. Sounds promising.

After some alpha testing, Nokia Beta Labs released the Beta version of Nokia Ovi Suite v3.0 available for download here. The new PC Suite from Nokia comes with two major improvements - a new Home View and a new Music Player.

Announced in April , the new Nokia N8 will first go on sale on the Nokia UK online shop. The N8 is now available for pre-order for £429 (~$660; EUR 520) unlocked or on contract from £35 per month. Samsung today introduced a new 1GHz ARM CORTEX A9-based dual-core CPU, codenamed Orion. Samsung is applying its 45nm process technology to a new processor designed for high-performance, low-power mobile applications including tablets, netbooks and smartphones.

"The new chip features a pair of 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 cores, each comes with a 32KB data cache and a 32KB instruction cache. Samsung also included a 1MB L2 cache to optimize CPU processing performance and provide fast context switching in a multi-tasking environment. In addition, the memory interface and bus architecture of Orion supports data intensive multimedia applications including full HD video playback and high speed 3D action games.

Orion incorporates a rich portfolio of advanced multimedia features implemented by hardware accelerators, such as video encoder/decoder that supports 30fps video playback and recording at 1080P full HD resolution. Using an enhanced graphics processing unit (GPU), the new processors are capable of delivering 5 times the 3D graphics performance over the previous processor generation from Samsung."

It'll hit "selected customers" in the fourth quarter of 2010 and is scheduled for mass production in the first half of 2011.

After closing the Nexus One web store two months ago, Google today announced that the Nexus One , manufactured by HTC , will no longer be available online from Google and will only be sold by Vodafone in Europe, KT in Korea and possibly other partners based on local market conditions.

Symbian^4 OS is expected to be released in early Q4 2010, and the first devices running the new OS from early 2011 onwards.

SIG (The Bluetooth Special Interest Group)  announced today the formal adoption of Bluetooth v4.0.

The most important aspect of the V4.0 Bluetooth specification is the low peak, average and idle mode power consumption.
