Microsoft unveiled the latest version of its mobile operating system at Mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona. The new platform is called 'Windows Phone 7 Series'. With this new platform Microsoft will bring together Xbox LIVE games and the Zune music and video experience on a mobile phone. Partners have already started building phones; customers will be able to purchase the first phones in stores by holiday 2010. 

Windows Phone 7 Series includes six hubs built on specific themes reflecting activities that matter most to people: People,  Pictures, Games, Music + Video, Marketplace and Office.

Partners from around the world have committed to include Windows Phone 7 Series in their portfolio plans. They include mobile operators AT&T, Deutsche Telekom AG, Orange, SFR, Sprint, Telecom Italia, Telefónica, Telstra, T-Mobile USA, Verizon Wireless and Vodafone, and manufacturers Dell, Garmin-Asus, HTC Corp., HP, LG, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Toshiba and Qualcomm Inc.

 After a long wait, the third generation of the USB interface is available. Called SuperSpeed USB, the USB Implementers Forum announced at CES 2010 that the first products to use their new SuperSpeed USB 3.0 are now available.

SuperSpeed USB brings significant performance enhancements to the ubiquitous USB standard, while remaining compatible with the billions of USB enabled devices currently deployed in the market. SuperSpeed USB will deliver 10x the data transfer rate of Hi-Speed USB (from 40 MB/s to 400 MB/s), as well as improved power efficiency(900 mA, an 80% increase over USB 2.0 at a registered maximum of 500 mA).

• SuperSpeed USB will provide Optimized Power Efficiency.No device polling and lower active and idle power requirements.
• SuperSpeed USB is backwards compatible with USB 2.0. Devices interoperate with USB 2.0 platforms. Hosts support USB 2.0 legacy devices.

The cost to make an iPod, Xbox, and other electronics has big bottom-line implications at Apple, Microsoft, and their peers. Some companies are willing to swallow losses on some gadgets—for instance, gaming consoles—in hopes that they'll make up the difference, and then some, on sales of related gear, such as video game software. Other companies, including Apple, are able to sell many products for a healthy profit from the get-go.

 Sony Ericsson announces 30 September 2008 as the official launch date for the highly anticipated Xperia X1 – initially available to consumers in the UK, Germany and Sweden. The handset will be available in other markets across Europe, Asia and Latin America throughout Q4 2008.

To start the countdown to the launch of Xperia X1, Sony Ericsson will host a live global webcast on September 15 at 13:00 GMT + 1, offering viewers the first in-depth demonstration of the handset.  Krusell, specializing in carrying equipment for portable electronics, has released the top-10 selling phones in May 2007.

The list is based upon the number of pieces of model specific mobile and smart phone cases that have been ordered from Krusell.

Finland is the first to experience optimized mobile TV with the Nokia N77 multimedia computer. Later this month also Vietnam and India will start shipments of the Nokia N77. Consumers will now be able to keep up to date with news and sports and enjoy their favorite TV shows live on the move.

HTC will hold what it calls a major announcement on June 5th in London. It will be a major announcement, according to the invitation email which states "heralds a new mobile experience that will change the way we use and control our phones".

Kodak President Antonio Perez shared the info at the JPMorgan Technology Conference in Boston on Monday.

While Perez would not release details on the camera phone, he did say that the new Kodak camera would have a Kodak-developed CMOS chip and be a 5-megapixel camera.

Sony Ericsson today announced the Stereo Bluetooth Headset HBH-DS980 featuring digital noise cancellation/echo reduction to reduce background noise, Bluetooth 2.0, A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) for high quality sound when listening to music and a hidden OLED display. The HBH-DS980 will be available worldwide from Q3 2007.
