How to install skins/themes on Motorola Phones

 IMPORTANT: The Skins on this site are NOT for Motorola V3x! You will damage your phone if you try to install them on V3X.

Download Motorola skins here 

Method 1:

1) Download P2K Commander (make sure the archive has the p2kdrivers folder).  Unzip and run P2KCommander .
2) Point your Device Manager to the p2kdrivers folder and install the Motorola MCU Data logger, etc... devices.
3) If your skin folder has a 'install_yourskin.p2kc' file, just click it and P2KCommander will install the skin.
4) If the install.p2kc file is missing read below:

- Open P2KTools

- Plug Your Phone on the Cable
* On E398, V635 I sugest take the TransFlash off
 
- When the status apear 'Connected'

- Hit 'Refresh' to get the file list.

- Select the folder 'Skins'

- Right Click on the folder 'Skins' Will apear a sub-menu
Select the option 'Create Folder'

- Put the Name of the Skin, must be the same name of the '*.ski' File!

- Hit 'Refresh' to get the new file list.

- Select the new folder that was cereated. (The one that contain the same name of the *.ski)

- Hit 'Upload' to upload the skin files to the phone.

- Select all the files with *.DAT and *.Ski Extension

- Hit 'Open' to Upload

- Wait a Minute while P2KTools Send the files to your phone.

- Select the folder 'Picture'

- Hit 'Upload'

- Select the wallpaper and Screen Saver of the skin

- Hit 'Open' to Upload

- Wait a Minute while P2KTools Send the files to your phone.

Done it, restart your phone and check out your new skin..
 

For editing or font problems use Skinner4Moto. (Don't forget to download the .s4mi module for your phone: L7/ V3i/ PEBL/ ROKR E1/ E398/ E815/ E1000 V1050/ RAZR V3/ V550 V620 V635/ V980 V975 C975)

 

 Method 2: 

Utilized Programs: Skins Manager v0.47 (check for the latest version)

Old version: SkinsManager_v0.31  (Mirror 1 | Mirror 2) ; Skins Manager v0.41.05A

You may need RSD Lite (v3.3 latest version) in order for Skins Manager to recognize your phone.

For Connection problems check out this forum [A Guide to Un-Install and Re-Install P2K Drivers]

Once you have found and downloaded a skin that you like, extract it to a new folder. This folder should now contain AT LEAST one .JPG or .GIF file (wallpaper), one .SKI file, and several .DAT files. To explain what those files are:

.SKI File: This file is basically the "skin map". It contains all of the skin information such as font colors, object references, and object positions.

.DAT Files: These files contain all of the images that make up the skin excluding the wallpaper.
 

Installing:

1. Connect the phone to the cable and open Skinmanager: It should auto connect and will say reading files as pictured:

2. Once finished it should look like this:

3. Click Install and you will get this pop up:

4. Navigate to the skin you want and click Open:

5. The skin will now begin to install as seen in the pic below. Depending on the size of the skin it could take a minute to install.

This program will auto-install the wallpaper as well in the uploading process:

6. Your skin is now installed:

7. After everything uploads click Skins, More, Restart phone.

8. Disconnect the phone after restart and enjoy your new skin.

Deleting.

My V3i don't connect to my computer when I run RSD Lite but it works when I run Motorola Phone Tools v4.04. When I run RSD Lite, it's opening "Found a new hardware" box but I 've installed it (Motorola_EU_Dr iver_Installati on). I don't understand! So I run skin manager, my V3i doesn't connect! You need to use a software called skinner4moto by Knapster to upload the skin to your phone. You will also need to install P2k Commander. Edit the skin you want to upload with skinner4moto on the side panel click font fix. This will correct the font error you observed. I tell you I had this problem for about three days but now the fonts appear in the skins. When you are dont editing the skin, click install. This will automatically launch p2k commander and install the skin with correct font. Cheers. :D

i'm successfully install that skin..i have 2 version..
u must have software:
-skin manager
-p2k commander
-p2k drivers

>setup usb connect phone to data/fax...
>connect ur phone to pc with data cable
>open p2k commander
>install that 3 component drivers from p2k drivers
>open skin manager..wait until SM read ur phone
>click install button..find IphoneMoto.ski in folder IphoneMoto
>SM will install the skin to ur phone
>restart the phone
>Congratulation...!!!u get IphoneMoto skin..great skin!!

Getting the software might be hard, but theres always a way. Try downloading use shareconnector to search for the software that U need to install skins....It is so damn simple....thx for the instruction on how to install skins to any motorola phone :D
