 Samsung GALAXY Tab

 Samsung has finally announced the much awaited P1000 tablet, called Samsung GALAXY Tab (Model: GT-P1000) . Powered by a Cortex A8 CPU running @1GHz with PowerVR SGX540 graphics, the Samsung GALAXY Tab is the first of the company’s tablet devices, representing a new category of mobile products for Samsung.

 

Shipping with the Android OS v2.2 (Froyo), the GALAXY Tab - which measures 190 x 120 x 12 mm and weighs in at 380g - also features a generous 7'' TFT-LCD, WSVGA (1024 x 600) display, dual camera, 1.3-megapixel on the front and a 3-megapixel camera with AF and LED Flash for photos and video.

 

The Samsung GALAXY Tab is capable of playing Full HD 1080p video and supports a broad range of digital formats, including DivX, XviD, MPEG4, H.263, H.264, MP3, AAC, OGG, WMA, AMR, FLAC, WAV and AC3.

 

The tablet will be launched in mid September in Europe, and in other regions including Korea, the US and Asia in coming months. No word on pricing though.

Motorola MILESTONE 2 for Europe

Motorola MILESTONE 2

 Motorola today introduced MILESTONE 2 with MOTOBLUR, the European version of the DROID 2, with 720p video recording added.

 

Hardware wise, there’s a 16M color high resolution 3.7-inch 480 x 854 pixels touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel camera with 720p HD recording, 8GB of internal storage and both a 3.5mm headphone socket and A2DP Bluetooth v2.1 for wireless headsets.

 

The MILESTONE 2 comes with a 1GHz processor with 802.11n support,  and a QWERTY keyboard with larger keys.

 

The Android 2.2 phone offers Flash Player 10.1 support and a suite of Google mobile applications.

Samsung Wave 723 running the Bada open platform

Samsung Wave 723 (GT-S7230E)

 Samsung announced its latest handset to join the bada open platform, the Wave 723 (Model: GT-S7230E).


The Wave 723 sports a 3.2-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display,  GPS, a 5-megapixel camera with AF, LED Flash, geotagging and smile detection and is capable of taking MicroSD memory cards of up to 16GB capacity and 90MB of built-in memory. It utilizes Wi-Fi or UMTS/HSDPA to download tracks and has Bluetooth v3.0 (with various profiles including A2DP).

 

"The Wave 723 will be available across Europe from September, and in the UK in the final quarter of this year. "

Nokia 5250

After weeks of speculation and leaked set of spy shots uploaded to the Ovi Store, Nokia has finally announced 5250.

 

The new touchscreen phone boasts a 2-megapixel camera with QVGA @30fps video recording capabilities, Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR, 51MB internal memory and accepts Micro SD memory cards of up to 16GB capacity. The 5250 also comes with a free copy of the Guitar Hero 5 Mobile

 

The anticipated retail price of the Nokia 5250 is EUR 115, before taxes and operator subsidies. Expect it to hit the markets in Q4 2010.

Nokia X3 'Touch and Type' mobile phone

 Nokia today unveiled the Nokia X3 Touch and Type , with a unique combination of a touch screen and traditional 12 button phone keypad.

The 5-megapixel camera on the X3 Touch and Type, model X3-02, boasts a 4x digital zoom and QVGA video recording capabilities, up to 20 fps.

 

Other features include 10.2 Mbps HSDPA, Wi-Fi, 50 MB internal memory and a microSD card slot (up to 16GB).

 

Nokia say that the X3 Touch and Type should be available during the third quarter of 2010 for a price of around EUR 125 before tax and subsidy, in five colors: Petrol blue, White silver, Lilac, Pink and Dark metal.

 Research In Motion today announced a new 3G device, the Curve 3G 9300 . The 3G Curve supports HSDPA networks, ships with BlackBerry OS 5 and is BlackBerry OS 6 ready.

 

Other features include a 2-megapixel camera with fixed-focus, GPS with BlackBerry Maps, BlackBerry Messenger for social networking sites, has 256MB of on-board storage, expandable with MicroSD cards of up to 32GB capacity.

 

BlackBerry claims that this 104g cell phone's 1150mAh battery should be good for up to 5.5 hrs of talk time or a bit over 19 days of standby time on a full charge (on GSM mode).

 

The BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 will be available from various carriers and distribution partners around the world in the upcoming day/weeks.

BlackBerry Torch 9800

 BlackBerry and AT&T today announced the Torch 9800 , the first smartphone to feature the BlackBerry OS 6.

 

The phone features a full QWERTY keyboard, optical trackpad, touchscreen, a 5MP camera with geotagging and face recognition, 4GB internal memory and a microSD card slot.

 

The BlackBerry Torch 9800 smartphone will be available exclusively to carrier AT&T, on August 12, as well as Best Buy, Wal-Mart and RadioShack stores.

Motorola announced the Charm with MOTOBLUR, a social networking phone that runs on Android 2.1.

 

Features on Motorola CHARM include:

  • Flash enabled Web browsing
  • Google services including: Google Search, Maps, Gmail and access to apps on Android Market
  • Pinch to zoom functionality and two-finger swipe to easily surf the Web and sort through photos
  • 3MP camera and KODAK PERFECT TOUCH technology for brighter pictures
  • One-touch social media uploads to Facebook, MySpace, Picasa and PhotoBucket
  • CrystalTalk PLUS for enhanced audio and call quality with a second microphone for increased voice quality while filtering out background noise
  • Corporate email pushed immediately to the device for instant inbox updates

 

The phone is expected to available this summer in the US for customers of T-Mobile.

Samsung Captivate AT&T

 Samsung and AT&T have officially announced the Samsung Captivate (i897), a Android 2.1-powered Galaxy S phone.

 

The phone offers a Super AMOLED 4-inch touch screen display with a 480 x 800 pixels resolution, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), DLNA, Bluetooth v3.0, a full HTML browser with tap and hold zoom and a 5-megapixel camera with capability of 720p HD video recording.

 

The Samsung Captivate runs a 1 GHz Samsung Hummingbird Application Processor and has 16GB of internal storage (expandable up to 32GB via MicroSD card).

 

No detail on pricing but it is expected to be available in the coming months at AT&T retail locations.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X8

 Sony Ericsson has finally announced their latest smartphone, the Xperia X8 .

They also announced software upgrades for the Xperia X10 , X10 mini and X10 mini pro smartphones 'to improve performance and add new communication and entertainment experiences.' The mentioned phones will be upgraded, from Q3 2010 onwards, to run on the Android 2.1 OS (only in selected markets).

Xperia X10 will get HD video recording as part of the Q3 upgrade and the Timescape and Mediascape applications in the 4th quarter.

 

The Xperia X8 is a GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900, UMTS HSPA 900/2100 and UMTS HSPA 800/850/1900/2100 phone that will be available in White, Dark Blue/ White, Aqua Blue/ White, Pink/ White, Silver/ White in selected markets from Q3 2010.

 Sony Ericsson has announced the latest device to be offered under its Walkman brand, the Yendo . This new music phone supports Touch Player, and some of the common Walkman functions like touch TrackID, PlayNow, MediaGo and Four corner UI.

 

Hardware wise, there’s a 2.6-inch 240x320 touchscreen, up to 16GB of storage (microSD) a 2-megapixel camera and both a 3.5mm headphone socket and v2.1 A2DP Bluetooth for wireless headsets.

 

Available in Black, Blue, Green, Orange, Pink, Purple, Red, Silver, White and Yellow, the Sony Ericsson Yendo Walkman Phone will be released in Q3 2010, in 'selected markets'.

Sony Ericsson today announced the Cedar , an 3G HSDPA phone aimed at consumers who are looking for an easy way to stay connected at an affordable price. The phone offers HSDPA browsing capabilities and easy access to e-mail and social networking sites with the Widget Manager v2.0 app.

 

Two colours are available: "Black/Silver or Black/Red" and will be available in selected markets from Q3 2010.

Nokia X5

 Nokia welcomed two new models into the popular Xseries of 'entertainment-oriented' devices. The phones in question are the new Nokia X5 and the Nokia X6 8GB .

 

The Nokia X5 plugs part of the gap between the Nokia X3 and Nokia X6, but as you can see from the pictures, is a pretty unique device.

 

The phone will be available in in Indonesia during Q3, at an estimated retail price of EUR 165 before taxes and subsidies. Its availability in other markets is as yet unknown.
